James (Jim) Parkhurst served on the Board of Directors of Harbor National Bank from September 2002 until the sale of the Bank in April 2004. Since 1978, Mr. Parkhurst has served as a Senior Officer for provider-based healthcare service companies that include Medical Imaging Centers of America, San Diego, California; Renaissance America, Inc., Atlanta, Georgia; Synergist Limited, Houston, Texas; Comprehensive Care Corporation (CompCare), Irvine, California; Medical Care International, Houston, Texas; and LifeMark Corporation, Houston, Texas. Since March 1993, Mr. Parkhurst has served as President/CEO and Founder of Newport Bay Hospital, an inpatient neuro-psychiatric facility in Newport Beach, California, which is dedicated to the treatment of mental health issues specific to seniors. From October, 2003 to November, 2006, he served as the Chairman and Co-founder of HealthGroup Partners, LLC., which was successful in securing a waiver to construct a Specialty Surgical Hospital in Slidell, Louisiana. Southern Surgical Hospital was constructed and operated by this LLC until it’s divestiture in November, 2006. Since 2001, Mr. Parkhurst has served on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Coastkeeper, wherein he served as Chairman from 2002-2005. Since January 2006, he has served on the Board of Directors for Health Facilities of California Mutual Insurance Company, Inc., A Risk Retention Group. During his 15 years at General Electric Company, Mr. Parkhurst’s management responsibilities involved sales, marketing and manufacturing in six different Business Divisions, located in seven various cities throughout the U.S.A. He received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Houston in 1963 and completed G.E.’s three-year Manufacturing Management Program in 1966.
